Some ideas for the game. Warning: VERY LONG LIST. If you even bother reading all of them tell me your thoughts.
-Allow all vehicles to have engine upgrades. -Make it so you don't have to do a glitch to change the Nighthawk's trail color. -There should be a vehicle condition meter that shows you your vehicle's HP in an aircraft and shows you the condition of your tires if you're in a land vehicle -Allow us to disable a plane's engine in midair again -Update the Rhino so it looks like an Abrams Main Battle Tank or something and not a Stryker APC. -The occupants of the Rhino should be completely immune to melee attacks and gunfire, and should take 75% reduced splash damage if the vehicle is hit in the front, 50% if it's hit in the side or on the roof/ceiling, and only 25% if it's hit in the back. -Make a hangar at the airport that gets used for customizing planes. I do not want to use the helipad, nor do I want the mobile garage gamepass, and going out to the boat customization place just to be able to land properly is kind of ridiculous. -The missile lock-on speed of the Warhawk and Nighthawk should be the same as that of the Hyper Glider, but especially the Warhawk's speed because it doesn't feel very good for ground attacks. -Allow us to turn off lock-on entirely on vehicles with missiles so we can just free aim a shot at a target. -Not vehicle related but put back the ability to place waypoints on the map. I'm guessing they were accidentally removed because of a glitch. -The location where you get locked on to should change to be relative to the vehicle if you're in a vehicle, not relative to the player. -Aircraft should play a warning sound when you get locked on to and fired at by homing missiles. -Fix aircraft hitboxes so hitting them with missiles actually disables them. -Add chaff and flare countermeasures. Flares unlock missiles that are fired at you and have a 15 second cooldown, while chaff stops you from being locked on to for 10 seconds and has a 20 second cooldown. -Add a MiG-15. It would essentially be a Falcon but with missiles instead of bombs. They will be like Warhawk missiles, but only dealing 40 damage. Cost would be $1.25 million. Performance would be exactly the same as the Falcon. -The Nighthawk's stealth mode should have a 30 second cooldown instead of the 15 seconds it has now. -Turning speed in an aircraft shouldn't be based on FPS but rather on the type of vehicle it is. The Warhawk should have the fastest turns since it's, you know, a fighter jet. I'm tired of losing turning dogfights just because the other guy has better FPS than me and I know I'm not the only one. -Add the ability to airbrake in a plane. -The Plane's price should be back to 50k like how it was in Season 1. -Make the Sniper Rifle deal 50 damage. 40 damage is just way too low. -You should be able to play audio in the Nightclub from the DJ Booth. Doors to the Nightclub should be open 24/7 but the robbery itself will still have its cooldown time. -Fix the crashes that happen on some races. -Make the RPG take 15 seconds to reload and maybe occupy the same slot as a grenade or secondary weapon instead of a primary weapon. It shouldn't fire as fast as it does. -Change Frostbite so he can't do the jumping thing anymore and has to use normal flight like how he originally was. -The Jetpack should have an ability that lets its user jump extremely high but consumes 1/3rd of its fuel and has a 15 second cooldown. This jump would be high enough to reach the roof of an average building. It would still retain its flight ability. -Hot Rod should be able to control the speed he runs at. -Remove stamina from hero powers like Voltron and Vanta and Raven, which have a limited sprinting time at the time I'm writing this. -Make the bunker near the airport actually used for something. -Nerf the amount of damage Titan does to be 15 or 20. -Inferno's power should deal fire damage, which does 5 DPS and lasts for 4 seconds. -Buff the range of Phantom's power. -Bring back the Lazerblade. -The Lazerblade's color should be able to be chosen by customizing it at the gun store. -Add weekly discounts on vehicles and customization options, and make certain activities pay double the amount of cash and XP. 1 vehicle goes on discount each week and 5 customization items go on discount. 2 activities pay double. Not only would this be simple to do, but it could keep players interested in playing. -Remove the minigame cooldown. -Add a furniture inventory for the apartment so you can store furniture you don't want to place in your apartment, but that you also don't want to sell. -Open the Mall. Inside the mall there will be various stores where you can buy stuff like furniture for your apartment, larger duffel bags for you to be able to carry more cash in heists, in-game avatar customizations, another gun store that allows you to purchase weapon upgrades (like increased damage, fire rate, clip size, and accuracy,) emotes, gamepasses, and the weekly discounted vehicle. The mall will have some permanent changes for the vehicle. Inside there will be a podium with the vehicle rotating on it and you can go up to it and buy it. For helicopters, however, there will be a helipad on the roof. For planes, there will be a dirt runway behind the mall, very similar to the OG airport. For boats, there will be a small dock on the beach where you can buy the discounted boat and it will have the mall's logo on it. In addition to buying stuff from the mall there will be a heist. In this heist you have to go to the back and open the safe. Inside there will be piles of cash you can steal. It will pay you $10k, or 20k if you are a VIP. -Make it so you can play on the slot machines and other games in the Casino, and win large amounts of cash from them. You can also rob all the slot machines for $500 each, but you can't rob a machine that's in use. Additionally, the Casino stays open 24/7 and the metal fencing part is moved to be in the hallway that goes to the vault. You still have to hack it open from the front desk, though. The heist cooldown stays just like with the Nightclub, but people can still go in and gamble whenever they want. -The Thunderbird shouldn't be affected by popped tires in hover mode. -The Snow Mobile, Rocket Sled, and Light Bike should all be immune to police spikes. -Allow us to upgrade an aircraft's armor to make it more resistant to gunfire. -Allow us to upgrade a vehicle's tires to make them more resistant to gunfire. -The Sniper Rifle and AWP should one-shot car tires to make up for their low fire rate, unless those tires are completely bullet proof. It also makes sense because... well.... they're heavy weapons with high firepower. In real life if you shot a car tire with a sniper it would pop the tire in a single shot and probably damage the wheel as well, depending where the bullet hits. -The Sniper Rifle and AWP should be able to hit headshots to deal 25 extra damage. -All other weapons that don't currently have extra damage for headshots should do 50% increased damage on a headshot, with the exception of explosives. -Grenades should be nerfed to deal 49 damage. Why do they deal as much damage as a tank shell?? -Add a tank destroyer that ignores any explosive protection on other vehicles, and deals 90 damage in a shot with increased splash radius, but has no turret. Just a mounted gun aimed forwards and able to move limitedly up and down and side to side. -The Rhino's cannon should be able to zoom in like a sniper rifle to hit long range targets. -Make it so that players with flying powers actually take damage every time you get a direct hit on them with the Rhino's cannon. -Fix blank hitmarkers. -Add a helmet you can wear that protects you from 10% of damage taken and allows you to toggle thermal vision on and off. Thermal vision turns most of your screen dark but allows you to see other players through walls for a limited distance and even see them if they are invisible. Players would have a bright orange silhouette. The only thing immune to thermal vision would be Frostbite because, well, he's cold, and thermal vision uses heat to see things. Once you buy this helmet you keep it forever and can put it on/take it off whenever you want. It costs $100k. -Allow us to remove Body Armor without resetting character. -Allow us to reset our avatar's entire appearance without resetting. This includes removing prison, cop and superpower clothes, removing the weird thing Titan does to your head, and resetting your avatar's skin color (like when you get burned in the Pyramid and your skin becomes charred black or when you use Phantom's power and you become completely green.) -Add a gas mask that makes you not take damage while in a cloud of Tear Gas for a limited time. Each mask lasts for 1 minute and costs 5k. It shows a time meter on your screen while you are wearing it. -Add a weaponized boat of some kind. -Add a submarine. -Add a casubmarine hybrid with missiles. -Make the underwater area actually interesting or at least just let players go underwater. -Improve loading times if possible. -Make it so that structures like the Pyramid and certain details on the city buildings actually render in when the player is far away, so long as their device can handle it. -Make the Vehicle Radio a standard feature on all vehicles and give anybody who bought the gamepass $500k after taking the gamepass offsale. -Add a badge called "Piracy. It's a crime." for completing every heist and mini-heist in the city.

"OK, so we're breaking in an ancient old mansion that has 4 lethal threats within it... how do you usually break in?" "Simple! I fly in, break through the library, and steal as much as I can before they chase me down, ze?" "Are you stupid? It's almost like they're letting you do it. Hold on, I have something that should take care of them." It was sleeping gas, the same gas that was supposed to be used for a contract I had to rob the Golden Grin. The original function of this gas was to put the camera room guards to sleep, and my crew would sneak down to the vault, grab The Dentist's loot, and the money. "What else do they have?" "Fairies, devils, and goblins. Ze, I think that's what they have in there..." "Are they immune to gas?" "No..?" "Great, what else, you said there was a time stopping, knife throwing maid, twovampires, and a Chinese lady. That's what the sleeping gas is for, an odorless, colorless agent to make everyone in that mansion go nighty-night for at least 10 minutes. I'm still doubting if it'll work on vampires though..." Breaking into giant mansions and robbing vampires wasn't my gig, like at all. Smashing banks, casinos, and other various compounds were. Assuming Marisa's intelligence was right, I would need to bring sleeping gas to put 2/4 of the lethal threats to sleep. Along with nearly everyone else. To deal with the vampires... I was hesitant to put my brass knuckles on lethal mode or actually hurt someone as I've done it too much during my criminalcareer. I had my specialized handguns, but it was only a last resort. I also brought gas masks, blowtorch, C4, flashbangs, smoke bombs, and weak incendiaries as an emergency tool. Marisa wouldn't be the first woman that I can mentor into being a highly skilled burglar. So I taught her everything I knew. Bribing the right people, casing the place, getting favors done by insiders, intimidating civilians, knocking out guards, avoiding cameras, destroying evidence, stealing as much as possible, and escaping without having the cops on our ass. After hours of planning our burglary, a plan was finally executed. I would preemptively find a blind spot in the mansion and the drone would automatically fly, highlight anyone, and in general, keep tabs on everyone in it. I never used this drone before for my stealth jobs, but judging by contracts like Murky Station and Breakin' Feds, there should be a guard pattern. Of course, the chance for Plan B always exists, so if the vampires caught us, incendiaries and an implanted water cannon in my suit should do the trick, if the maid caught us, flashbangs and gas should be able to disable her, along with cable ties. If not, then maybe threatening to burn down the mansion would. Marisa told me the maid is still human. If the librarian caught us, I would exploit her asthma and use weakened pepper spray to trigger her asthma. All of those were dirty underhanded tactics to survive, but I've done much worse things in the past. Just ask the people that I cheated out of their life savings in Golden Grin, or the jewelsI) stole), or the banks that) I had robbed. Under the cover of night, with my drone inside the mansion highlighting everything, me and Marisa were on the roof, grappling onto the mansion and finding our entry point into the library. I waited to see if my drone marked anyone asleep after releasing the gas, and there it was, the maid fell asleep, the librarian, the Chinese lady, and the fairies and other useless security guards. "Ahh bollocks! The vampires aren't fucking sleeping. Bloody hell." "What do we do now? Ze?" "You have your mask?" "Ze." After getting on top of the library's tower, I found a skylight leading down to what seems to be a library. I tried lockpicking, but for whatever reason, I just couldn't get through. Using the blowtorch, I loosened the lock enough to be able to lockpick, but I had to be careful, if that thing fell onto the floor, Plan A will turn into B faster than my trigger finger when I found The Rat. Opening the skylight barrier, and having information from an insider that there are devils inside there, I prepared smoke bombs to cover our location. I padded my smoke bombs to reduce the bouncing sound that would inevitably be heard when I threw them down. Marisa was going to fly in with her broom, like all witches, but I was going to parachute down with the equipment. I wasn't going to risk adding extra weight until we successfully robbed the library, because I can't fly. Jumping in, masks on, nobody has woken up yet. Good, but I feel like that sleeping gas wasn't going to last for more than 10 minutes. So we were going to work with 7 minutes stealing books, and 3 minutes to GTFO. Dropping smoke bombs in strategic locations, me and Marisa were down in the library, next to the sleeping librarian. "Librarian's pretty hot. If I've gotta say. Hate robbing her. But I would rob her." "I rob her daily, ze!" I took out a timer and the loot bags and Marisa started shoving all the books she wanted into them. 1 minute, 40 seconds elapsed after we last set down the gas. 5:20 left to go, or so I originally thought... noticing movement from the maid, going over to our general location, I warned Marisa that we had only 30 seconds to go before Plan B arrived. This song played in my head and it gave me flashbacks to the Shacklethorne Auction. "Marisa... hurry up with those books, I sense movement to our location!" "That's all I need today! Let's do this tomorrow!" she shouted. OK, there was no way in Hell the maid or the vampires could not of heard that. Unless they were deaf or completely stupid, someone was fated to check that sound. "Patchouli... is everything alright in there?" Marisa, doing her best impression, tried lying, "Yes Sakuya. Everything is fine and dandy." "You sound weird, what's wrong?" "Oh goddammit!" I yelled, "I'm shutting down this operation!" "Wait, what operation?!!" Grabbing Marisa by the arm and the loot bags, I placed her on the broom, sat on it with the loot intact, burnt the parachute, threw smoke grenades at the voice's location, and we flew out of there as fast of possible. Granted we were probably going to get caught regardless, but leaving behind weak evidence of our burglary was much better than having to silence a witness, or two. Flying at high speed, I saw a bunch of knives getting thrown. I managed to catch and deflect a few of them, but Marisa was hit and lost control of her broom temporarily, I still held the loot, but experienced flying fast upside down. Now I feel like those poor bastards who are peer-pressured by their friends to try those giant roller coasters at some overpriced amusement park. Paying attention to the speed and direction of the knives being thrown, I returned fire with 2 flashbangs and used my brass knuckles to summon lightning and chain it through the knives, in hope of stunning the maid, or at catching her off guard. Flying over Marisa's house. I threw her the loot bags and made way to Alice's house. Told her that she's going to need way more practice to be a burglar that can terrorize an entire country. Truth be told, she was much better than Clover when I first taught her my skills, but unlike Clover, Marisa lacked discipline and deceptiveness. Punching my way throughout the Forest of Magic and snapping the neck of plants, I encountered the maid. She probably didn't know that there was a 2nd one, so she asked, "Excuse me Mister. Mister? Have you seen a witch flying quickly throughout the sky. I need to have a few words with her." Acting surprised and giving a false impression of shock. I replied, "No," and she let me go after that. I walked back to Alice's place without any more problems and saw that Alice was opening a portal to Makai. Hox,we'll see Mom again, won't we? Ali... I hope so...
In S07E15 of DS9 (Badda-Bing Badda-Bang), we had a chuckle...
So at my house, we've been enjoying DS9, and just finished it. We're often laughing about how as a changeling Odo has the power to assume any fantastical form, but for budgetary reasons, is almost always a beige duffel bag. In the S07 episode "Badda-Bing Badda-Bang", the gang stages a casino heist, and basically the whole ops crew has a specific role to play. Sisko is the high-roller, Nog is the safe-cracker, and Odo... Well, Odo is responsible for carrying the money. He's the "bag man". I'm dead.
Today, I'm saying goodbye to the me that is in-debt to anyone
Almost like she wants to make a clean sweep of anyone she's ever befriended (i.e. she sees friendships as debts). Thankfully, her last line casts this in a much more positive light, so we'll pick this up when we get there. The scene in question is in the Casino Palace (check the stickers on the walls and door behind the Shadow, who is also the guard-type from the Casino), where she walks past Joker to retrieve the rapier embedded in an enemy with a very stylish twirling kick. The bulk of the trailer starts once she grabs it, with the shot lingering on her hand as if to show her determination. SCENE 2: After the title card showing her name and VA, we get a much more pleasant scene of her and Joker at the batting cages (and we know it's just those two because we can see in Picture 3 in the album linked above that Morgana isn't in his bag - it looks quite hollow without it!) ...however, we can't say this is the batting cages anymore since this looks far more professional than the ones in Yongen-Jaya (the baseball fan outside it in the base game even comments on this if you talk to him). Are there two sets of cages now, with this being the more "advanced" one? We also know that P5R is getting a revamped trophy list: will the original "Get a home run" trophy now be replaced with a "Get a home run in [new location]'s batting cages" instead? And where is this? As I said, the cages look far more professional than the old set and we already know we're getting a new location - Kichijoji - that's said to be a massive hub with many things to do, so I think it's safe to assume that's where this is taking place. And what are the two of you doing here? There are multiple camera angles and the activity in question seems too involved to just be an ordinary hangout, so I believe this is a Confidant event: you've brought Kasumi here so she can try something she's always wanted to but never got the chance to try (like taking Makoto to the arcade and Haru to Leblanc) and the reason you're here and not Yongen-Jaya is because Kasumi lives in Kichijoji as implied in her dialogue in the aquarium hangout spot (tl;dr: because she "remembers" going there in the past) so likely asked you to take her to a spot she's always passed by but never had the time or courage to go on her own. (As for where Kasumi would live, I assume she's in one of the apartments of the complex you see in the background at the start of the P5R reveal trailer when Joker's on his phone.) I'll touch on this motivation later on so keep it in mind. As for the scene in question, it's pretty clear that this is Kasumi's first try. She seems nervous at first if her referring to herself in the third person is any indicator (unless that's just how she does things in which case, d'aww) and despite her enthusiasm...doesn't even see the ball fly past her. Twice. Meanwhile Joker just sits there not emoting at all. Poor thing xD From a technical standpoint, it's remarkable how well Kasumi's model is animated: her face changes from determined to shocked perfectly in sync with the scene and her sprites and she even looks back and forth quickly after missing the first ball and is just stunned silent after the next! ...however, the balls she misses disappear as soon as they hit the net, though there are already two balls on the ground when she starts, so the scene either ends here or she gets the third one - possibly after you give her some advice (of course, if you give her bad advice, she'll do it on her own and you won't get any affinity points. Meanie.) SCENE 3: This scene does two things. First, it reveals that Kasumi is utterly adorable. Second, it confirms that Kasumi will be in Hawaii (something I didn't realise until I took a closer look, myself). How do we know this is Hawaii? The shop is called Aloha and most of the shoppers are Shujin students (which makes sense since they're tourists and would probably flood any nearby shops) and there's a palm tree on the right. Admittedly this could all just be a themed shop - complete with fake tree - in Kichijoji (which is what I initially thought myself), but the left side of the shop shows that they're also selling hawaiian shirts, sandals, sunglasses and hats, all of which would be very useful on the beach. The biggest giveaway however is the trio of caucasians on the left side - a man leaning on the sunglasses rack and the couple looking at flip flops. You don't see so many of those in one place anywhere else in P5! So why is Kasumi here? If this were Kichijoji, I'd assume she was out for a jog and popped in for a drink, but Hawaii's quite the trek. Since she's an accomplished gymnast, it's possible that she's here for some sort of competition/ exhibition, hence the tracksuit (she could either be on her way to/ from a performance or exercising/ jogging). As for Joker's lack of reaction, it's possible he already knew she was here. Either they met on the day they arrived (or the second arrived, if they came to Hawaii at different times) or he knew before they even left. After all, Kasumi is clearly friends with him at this point so would absolutely let him know that she was going on a trip (or vice versa) and for them to realise they'd be there at the same time. ...but seriously, not reacting at all? I guess going to the Metaverse would make real world surprises less impactful. He can at least play along with her though: one of the options is "I'm surprised/ You surprised me", though since it isn't said with any punctuation I have to assume it's a very dry/ sarcastic response. (Also, Futaba will probably be very upset if she already knows Kasumi at this point since they're the same age, but it'd give her another reason to go back to school, so yay!) Edit*7: Of course this serves the narrative too, since this way Futaba focuses entirely on parsing Sae's data and Morgana has nothing to do, which leads to his feelings of inadequacy by the time the team comes back from their trip. And to those of you who hoped Kasumi would be worked into the Hawaii trip, now she has! And since Joker and the others wouldn't care about any sports events happening near them, it makes sense that it wouldn't be brought up in the base game too! Also, if we're spending more time in Hawaii - or at least stopping by a store and maybe seeing Kasumi's performance/ competition - we have more opportunities to bump into Haru too! SCENE 4: Back in Japan, this scene is set in the cafe and also marks the first time we see Kasumi in truly "casual" clothing (since the other "casual" outfit she was in was a yellow button up shirt), which makes for a nice change. The polka dots make for a more childish appearance too, could this represent her feeling more free after spending time with Joker? In any case, the scene starts with Kasumi thanking Joker for the meal. Considering she has three large plates, a small plate, a bowl and what appears to be a platter on her side of the table while he only has a cup...I feel sorry for his wallet! Joker even sweats about her eating so much and has the option to say the food was terrible, but doesn't (probably wise since Kasumi clearly liked it :P) What's strange is that there's a cut in the conversation (the camera clearly cuts back to is default position) as Kasumi says her mind and body are fully recharged...only for her stomach to growl again. Cue the awkward silence, and just look at the wide open eyes on her face in Picture 13! :3 But that begs the question, is this just a running gag, or does she eat a lot because of all the activity she does? Could she also be comfort eating (though hopefully not with the vomiting sometimes associated with it)? While this could be a story event given the cut (which could have been to avoid revealing important character and/ or plot points), that you have the option to say something she'd disagree with (about the quality of the food) makes me wonder if this is a Confidant event instead. SCENE 5: This scene is very interesting for a number of reasons, as we'll get into. This part of the trailer starts with Kasumi's Awakening, but I want to discuss the enemy she's Awakening against first: as noted in this thread by u/zatifiend, the Shadow is Byakhee. What's interesting here (as explained incredibly well here by u/Questionable71) is that this is one of the henchmen for the main villain of Persona 2, Nyarlathotep, and an enemy-only Persona to boot. What's notable about this is that Nyarlathotep is the overarching villain of the entire Persona franchise (though he admittedly hasn't appeared since P2). I'm sceptical of the chances of him returning (though he'd be a logical next step after Yaldabaoth if the new Semester of the game intends to ramp up the stakes), but P5 already brought back Bless/ Curse non-instakill Skills and the Gun/ Psy/ Nuke elements from P1 and 2. Either Byakhee being here is a continuation of that "let's bring back old elements" mentality (for example, that he's fully yellow may just mean he's the Principal's Shadow or lackey, since he too wears all yellow and some people wanted him to have a Palace), or the returning elements were a sign that "we have plans for the old stuff". Moving on, where is this taking place? It looks like the back vault at first glance, but there's way too many new elements for that theory to hold. The lighting during her Awakening looks like it comes from spotlights while the floor is marble, with floor lights outside of the darker regions. Do the lights indicate this is a performance hall of some kind, meaning this is indeed Kasumi's Palace and she's rebelling against the expectations put on her (which the lights could be symbolic of if they're not simply there for dramatic effect to signify this as her Awakening scene) as a gymnast? I initially thought her Ruler would be her parent(s) as with Hifumi, but if it's indeed the Principal taking him out would also bring closure to everyone he hurt by only caring about his reputation, e.g. letting Kamoshida and the mafia have their way because he didn't want to get his hands dirty (keeping the kids quiet is probably the only reason he hired Takuto, now that I think about it). In any case, we already knew Kasumi was a Thief by the Casino at least (since we had a screenshot of her there) and even got a clip of her there in this trailer, so we know for a fact that this Palace has been inserted into the main events of the game. The biggest stretch of time in the base game for such an addition would be In Summer. Perhaps her Ruler kept compelling her to compete or perform even during the break and this pushed her over the edge? And if it is the Principal and the Palace is the school again, it'd be interesting to see the same place warped in two different ways! Back to Kasumi herself. As shown in Pictures 16 and 17, while she's initially angry when getting the mask, she smiles when pulling it off and is perfectly poised when doing so to boot. Even Haru only posed after summoning Miledy! Why is this so easy for her? We already know from the teaser that she's strong willed, is she so strong willed that she can smile through the pain, or is she smiling because she knows she's in the right/ now has the power to make things right? You may remember the theory in the master post that Kasumi already tried changing hearts in the past and failed, which is why she keeps her head down (and maybe why she moved away since - again - she says she remembers the aquarium in Kichijoji from a seemingly long time ago). If that theory is true, maybe she smiles since she's just RE-Awakening a power she locked away in the past and so there is no pain? She could also be getting a new Persona to replace the old and she doesn't feel the pain because she's already "Awakened" before and is either immune to the pain now or expects it. And hey, if her first Persona represents her true beliefs (that happily happen to match the Thieves') it could even return as her Ultimate Persona (unlike with Goro, who got Robin Hood separately while already having Loki)! Anyway, she Awakens to her Persona, who turns out to be Cendrillon, the French name for Cinderella. There's quite a bit to discuss here, so I'll give her her own section later and dive into combat now. Kasumi's and Cendrillon's models are incredibly well detailed here though - the Pros of only having to develop for the PS4 - and we may even reach the point where the in-game cutscenes look better than the anime ones! In the gameplay footage she uses the Physical skill Heat Wave, a skill in the base game that inflicts Heavy damage to all foes at a cost of 20% of the user's HP. She has 379 HP after using it which puts her max HP (in this clip at least) at 474 when rounded to the nearest whole number. That's a lot of HP, so were we right in assuming she's indeed a Physical damage dealer? Back to the combat. Byakhee is immune to Bless, Curse and Psy attacks and resistant to everything else in P2.*2 If that's true here, then Kasumi's Critical Hit was the only way they could have knocked it down for an AoA. Again, ATLUS could have fixed her crit rate for this shot (and she has the Death Glare to justify the trickery) but all three shots of her in action have resulted in her getting a Critical Hit. Could she simply have Apt Pupil (and Fortified Moxy, though it wouldn't help in this boss battle) instead? Maybe even an upgraded version alongside it? *2 Kasumi deals 306 damage with her Critical Hit and this is enough to deplete half of Byakhee's health. While this may again be part of some technical wizardry or plain overlevelling on Joker and Morgana's part to make the footage more interesting (and Kasumi more powerful) it could also mean Byakhee isn't as powerful as he was before. Of course, this seems to be a boss version, and those have tweaked resistances anyway (though I don't remember anyone ever losing immunities/ resistances). Anyway, we see that her pose when using Skills is just as fanciful as her others and his grace extends to her AoA, which is preceded by an extended animation a la the Twins', which features her ribbon dancing before the Finishing Touch screen - a nice way to confirm that she does indeed ribbon dance as her cosplayer did at the Persona Concert! As an aside, her pose in the prelude to the AoA is very similar to Joker's in that they both hold their right hands to their heads with fingers splayed (and having matching hai eye colours). Their outfits are similar, as are their Personas (as I'll get to later) so them mirroring each other even in the little things makes sense too! The quote in her Finishing Touch is "Beauty is Devotion". What does this mean, since she doesn't seem shallow enough to think beauty is everything? Is she referring to the grace of her movements? In my character analysis I pointed out evidence to suggest she enjoyed gymnastics despite the pressure people put on her as a result; does this quote also mean she takes pride in her form and the work she puts into maintaining it? It would explain why she poses so extravagantly in battle (and when ripping her own face off)! Also, she holds the end of her ribbon in her mouth as you would a rose while actual roses and rose petals adorn the screen. Does this mean anything or is it just an aesthetic - and coincidental - choice? Maybe her code name is indeed Rose? Let's not forget she has a silver one at her hip too! SCENE 5: HOW/ WHERE DID IT HAPPEN? Before we touch on the closing line of the trailer and Cendrillon, let's think about how this situation comes to be. While the stats could be inflated and other characters could have been removed from the cutscene to prevent spoiling anything, I'm going to take them at face value for this and assume that Joker and Kasumi stumble into a Palace at some point (incidentally, the fact that Joker can't simply leave and fetch the Thieves means this is a fixed sequence as with everyone's Awakenings save Yusuke). Also, the high stats for everyone means this must happen in the late game? However, ATLUS has confirmed they're making it easier to level up, so I don't think we can make assumptions and use character stats as more than a vague metric for the current point in the game, so this could just as easily be in the mid-game (and indeed In Summer as suggested earlier). It's possible that Kasumi calls Joker out to talk through her problems with him and happens to mention the keywords for whoever's causing her problems like Ryuji did, and they wander into the new Palace (and get trapped inside, so they can't simply turn around) by accident. Cue the "here we go again" meme from Joker. Long story short, Joker and Morgana transform as soon as they enter and are outed as Thieves and Byakhee corners them when they try to escape. Obviously Kasumi has recognised signs of the person she hated while they traversed the Palace and Byakhee's taunting/ mocking pushes her over the edge and she decides to finally stand up for herself and any other victims, which Awakens her Persona. (By the way, Morgana seems shocked that she's Awakening. Is this just for dramatic tension, or did he and possibly Joker genuinely want to keep her safe, so seeing her "become a fighter" is upsetting to them?) Going back to the Palace itself, Pictures 20 and 21 show a better view of the area where the Awakening and boss fight happen. There's a grand staircase as with a ballroom, but the floor is wooden with couches and a poster promoting good health on the right as you'd expect in any room you'd go to for exercising/ fitness classes - both things that would be relevant to Kasumi*3! Is it a mere coincidence that she Awakens in such a fitting area, or is this entire Palace all about her and thus its Ruler someone who has it out for - or tries to control - her specifically, like a parent? Considering most of the early game Palaces are about saving a specific victim with the Ruler's defeat simply helping others as a result (e.g. Kamoshida to avenge Shiho, Madarame to save Yusuke, etc.), having a Palace just to save Kasumi from being oppressed makes perfect sense and would fit in perfectly with the rest! *3And combined with the ballroom staircase, maybe this room could symbolise some sort of (performance) hall for gymnastics events? And finally, maybe the shot of Kasumi checking her phone at sunset in the April trailer is related to this? After all, Joker seems happy to see her and Morgana doesn't try to hide himself, which suggests they're both friends with her at this point. What if Kasumi is trying to see if their Change of Heart worked at that moment? They seem to be outside the school at the time, which would fit nicely with this theory if I was right the first time about the new Palace also being Shujin Academy :) SCENE 6 (DIALOGUE): As the Finishing Touch ends, Kasumi ends her narration from the start of the trailer ("First of all, let me introduce myself") with:
I've received a lot of help. Someday, I'd like to return the favor with the help of my sword. I can promise you that, so please don't forget!
This sounds like something she'd say to Joker, possibly right after Awakening given the reference to her sword. What if Joker's helped her many times (we saw them talking on at least two occasions outside the train station in May's trailers) even before helping her survive her Palace, which is why she makes such an earnest vow? And what if this help includes her Confidant events, if they're all about taking her to try new things in new locations? You'd have to know about those locations beforehand via books or other characters, but what if instead of receiving a Mementos Request you end up in a mini-Palace instead? For example, Kasumi's talking about whoever wronged her and Joker asks for their name so he can tell the others, but doesn't realise his MetaNav has turned on and it sends them to a Palace right away? The marble floor in Kasumi's Awakening scene matches the white aesthetic of the new Mementos rooms, so maybe this will be our chance to see what a fledgling Palace looks like (assuming Joker, Morgana and Kasumi are able to complete it themselves)? Of course for this theory to work, Kasumi would have either already sent them a Calling Card equivalent or asked that the three of them deal with the target on their own (as with Futaba and her uncle) so that the others don't get involved. In other words, her Confidant's Rank 8 event would be much more elaborate than any other, but in return you'd get a full-fledged teammate instead of just a new ability! Maybe the screenshot of the full team in Mementos' entrance is when she's introduced to them? CONNECTION TO THE OPENING SCENE: That last line a sweet sentiment, but it may tie back into the very first scene of the trailer where she says she's "saying goodbye to the me that is in-debt to anyone". We all know the Palace ends with Joker using himself as bait to unravel the conspiracy, but what if Kasumi disagrees with this and - when the group scatters to avoid escape - she goes after him? There's a screenshot of the two alone in the Casino Palace fighting a Jatayu to corroborate this theory. What if the scene at the start of the trailer is Joker running into a Shadow and Kasumi (who has yet to catch up to him) throws her rapier ahead of her*1 to kill it before it attacks him, telling Joker she's here to become a better person and pay off her debts as she retrieves it? This starts a small segment of the Palace where it's just the two of them and maybe Kasumi ends up captured alongside him as a consequence of her nobility? Or maybe even captured instead of him (though this would mean changing the prologue)? If my theory that she's an optional party member is correct, this would be similar to Marie in P4G: you have until a certain date to finish her Confidant and unlock an extended ending, otherwise you experience the original ending. Of course I could be entirely wrong about that part and Joker does simply help Kasumi out a lot in the base game, since they clearly have many scenes together - they have at least one scene together with Akechi that I haven't even mentiond yet, for example! *1 On closer observation, Kasumi's shadow still has the sword at her hip as she walks, but the camera angle changes just as it pans up to her hip so we can't tell if this is the case on her actual body too or just an animation bug. I still think the entire opening clip is part of the same scene though, only trimmed down to fit the length of her line. If she indeed has her sword with her at the start, it just means the quick cut to her kicking it back into her hand skipped the scene where she actually stabbed it to prove she was committed to seeing Joker home safely. And the Shadow was too stunned by her entrance to move, which happens a lot in Persona 5. And understandably so! Edit*8: For another opinion on this scene, look no further than this comment with a quote from u/Yeulia and their thoughts on what it could mean. Perhaps instead of being caught by the police in Joker's place, Kasumi could use the similarities in their Thief forms to act as bait if something goes wrong (and she's convinced to go along with the original plan)? And maybe this is the moment - especially the thought of Joker, someone she's no doubt very attached to and maybe even has a crush on at this point (or an actual relationship if you can get to her Rank 9 by this point and choose the romance option and no, that isn't a "well, duh" option for everyone, even if most of this trailer is adorable moment after adorable moment) letting himself be arrested and subjected to who knows what for the greater good - that convinces her to side with the Thieves for good? Maybe this is also the point where she decides to hijack the Metaverse for their sake, or whatever it is that incites the strange events in the final three months of the game? After all, those changes may even start while Joker's still in the interrogation room; it's fitting that she'd act then, since that's when Joker's at his most vulnerable! It'd be very interesting if the "you need to max her Confidant before the Casino Heist" theory is correct because it means we'll see major divergences from the main story right away (maybe acting that particular moment is also what influences Akechi to work with them again?) And as mentioned in Edit 6 below, this may be part of the reason we don't know her Arcana yet. What if it signifies that she does indeed have such game changing power? --- CENDRILLON As stated before, Cendrillon is the French version of Cinderella. Already there are similarities between her and Arsene as a result, just like their other selves! Both are French and dressed in high class attire - Arsene in a suit and cravat, Cendrillon in a dress and gem in her chest - and both are humanoids with very slender builds and realistic proportions. Lore-wise, the Cinderella story is actually incredibly old, with the earliest version of it - Rhodopis - originating sometime between 7 BC and 24 AD. This version tells of how a Greek courtesan's sandal was picked up by an eagle and dropped in the lap of the Pharoah in Memphis, who "stirred both by the beautiful shape of the sandal and by the strangeness of the occurrence, sent men in all directions into the country in quest of the woman who wore the sandal". She was found, brought to him and became his wife. A very simple and bizarre story. With a story that old, there are understandably many, many, many variations of it, too many too list! So I'll stick to Cendrillon herself from Cendrillon ou la petite pantoufle de verre, by Perrault. It was written in 1697 and introduced most of the elements we associate with the story today such as the Fairy Godmother and pumpkin carriage. The strange thing is that one of the morals of this version of the story was quite cynical:
without doubt it is a great advantage to have intelligence, courage, good breeding, and common sense. These, and similar talents come only from heaven, and it is good to have them. However, even these may fail to bring you success, without the blessing of a godfather or a godmother
Thankfully, Kasumi of course already has an answer to this in the form of her Persona (who happens to be Cinderella herself, funnily enough), who gives her the power to stand up for herself and fulfil her own version of justice. As for the rest of the story, it's easy to draw parallels if we assume the theory about her being forced to compete for her family/ school is true. Society (the step-family) oppresses and forces her into a role she doesn't want, but in her darkest moment her Persona (Fairy Godmother) appears and gives her the chance to explore a whole new world and be herself/ do what she wants and thinks is right (the Metaverse/ royal ball). Going to this new world also gives her the chance to bond with someone who likes her for herself and through him can experience the things she never could on her own (Joker and her Confidant events like playing baseball/ the Prince and freedom). There's even a part in the initial reveal trailer where she dances in the middle of a crowd with all eyes on her, just as Cinderella had all eyes on her at the ball! As for her Ultimate Persona? Well, it'd have to be a female mythological figure who escaped an oppressive life, while also being known for being a trickster. Any ideas? Edit*3: The Morrígan/ Mór-Ríoghain is an Irish Goddess of war and fate - even called "the Phantom Queen!" - and may be a candidate for the first criteria since she's also known for her trickery (such as tricking the hero Cúchulainn into healing her injuries by disguising herself as an old woman). In fact, Morrigan is already a demon in the core SMT series, so we know ATLUS already knows about her (or were, at any rate). Another is the similarly named yet unrelated Morgan le Fay from Arthurian Legend. Morgan's character has been in a lot of flux throughout the ages, going from being a fairy to Arthur's sister to being good then evil and back again. However, she is both a trickster and - depending on the interpretation - was wronged by her family, though this also made her a traitor to Arthur. But this is also the version of the story where she returns to being on his side again and carrying him off to Avalon upon his near-death, which may mirror Kasumi betraying the group (with good intentions) and coming back to them - after all, they kept Akechi around! He may even be the one to point out that they'll take her back no matter what she's done - though hopefully won't mirror Arthur's death by killing off Joker. --- OTHER The new song is a mystery for the most part, but the first and last lyrics are "You actually thought you could get away? Ah [...] don't think so!" and "I can change the world." Assuming this is Kasumi's theme song, it hints that she's very confident in her own abilities. This could just be the cockiness every Thief feels when they work, but could it also be an indicator that Kasumi is confident in her "real world" life too? Maybe even outside her skill in (and qualms with) gymnastics? And is this an innocent detail, or a sign that she already knows what being in the Metaverse is like (especially with "You actually thought you could get away?") or even that she has ulterior motives? Both lines are threats, after all! Even if she's saying she can "save the world" instead, it doesn't necessarily mean her definition of "saving something" is a healthy one! Remember how the original trailer started with her "taking everyone's dreams"? I admit it'd hard to see someone this goofy and sweet as a villain though. Konichi...wa! Edit*6:
Here's something I keep forgetting to mention (and have been meaning to say since the trailer dropped, so you can imagine how this makes me feel): we got Kasumi's Persona but not her Arcana. Why is that? I suspected they'd only show us one and that the Persona was most likely, but that was because I thought her Arcana may be a spoiler (indeed, an Arcana does say more about what someone can do than their Persona alone). So will she be an Aeon, a Jester or a completely different Arcana, like how Takuto uses a card from the Spanish Tarot?
Many people have noted that the shot of Kasumi Awakening here is different to the shot of her in the Metaverse in the April trailer. I stand by what I said before then that the latter is her losing her powe it deactivating due to shock. Specifically that it's either in the past and she witnessed the event that scared her into never standing up for herself against her family, teachers or even strangers with Akechi possibly being responsible OR when she's defeated and/ or shocked that her friends still believe in her after whatever she does in the new arc of the game!
--- Thank you all so much for reading! Please let me know what I missed or need to fix and I'll do my best to update this as soon as I can in my own time as well! --- Edits: June 6th Edit 1, 12:35 UTC: Added the OTHER section, added a correction to "CONNECTION TO THE OPENING SCENE" and added a mention of Kasumi's head twitch (d'aww) in "SCENE 2". Edit 2, 12:46 UTC: Fixed the second lyric from "'Cos" to "Ah [...] don't think so!" and added a note about Byakhee in "SCENE 5". Edit 3, 13:58 UTC: Extended the end of the correction in Edit 1, Added two candidates for Kasumi's Ultimate Persona and added an alternate interpretation for the place Kasumi Awakens to her Persona (...and making the assumption that Byakhee is a boss only Persona and won't appear as a regular enemy, huh) in "SCENE 5: HOW/ WHERE DID IT HAPPEN?" Edit 4: In this comment. 14:03 UTC. (And Edit 5 in the same comment. 14:19 UTC.) Edit 6: Added two notes to the "OTHERS" section above and some blasphemy to SCENE 5 ("and we may even reach the point where the in-game cutscenes look better than the anime ones")! 15:38 UTC. Edit 7: Added a paragraph to "SCENE 4". 15:52 UTC. Edit 8: Added theories based on u/Yeulia's (as quoted in the comments). 16:101 UTC. Edit 9: Added an Akechi mention to a theory in "OTHER"'s Edit 6! 16:17 UTC. June 8th Edit 11: Added some screencaps of her lightning fast 360* flip at the start of the trailer to the end of the album and on top of being an amazing flash of awesomeness from someone who already oozes it as much as she does adorableness, here's why I think it matters! Also, MysticDistance shared a rough transcription of the lyrics in the trailer. While I got everything the ending completely wrong, I still think the song is a huge case of Kasumi (and maybe the Thieves as a whole) boasting about how she completely dominates the opposition, so I think the rest of my commentary on the lyrics still holds water! 00:01 UTC. June 9th Edit 12: Added a short list of interesting details I and others have noticed, along with some speculation. Maybe they'll be relevant! 11:32 UTC.
[Spoilers] A multitude of theories from the FBI Files' hints (with pictures)
General Information
Some of these theories were not completely my original ideas, I'll give credit to the people who helped me formulate them.
Are we not getting a Christmas heist from Vlad? Things are kinda dicey right now, and Bain wouldn't be able to tell us what to do.
It can be certain that the gang is going back to DC, because Locke told us to go to the safehouse. etc
The Japanese email address sent to the Commissioner probably links to Kento, somehow.
Annuit Coeptis, the subject line of the email, is Latin. Google Translate turns it into "Signals Enterprise," but the Wikipedia page translates it to "[he] favors our undertaking" (or commencement). The Google translation is pretty useless, but the information from Wikipedia is very important. Shortly after the birth of America as a sovereign nation, Sam Adams ordered the creation of a national seal; this is where the pyramid and Annuit Coeptis (from the $1 bill) come from.
In relation to the last point, the Declaration of Independence (steal it? pls no ovk) had a number of grievances against England and King George III. The one that we are concerned with is: "He has plundered our seas, ravaged our coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people." The email from the FBI files reads, "He has plundered your seas, ravaged your coasts, burnt your towns, and destroyed the lives of your people." Big thanks to nopefruit for this information!
The "your" is most certainly relating to Bain and the Payday gang, and is followed by the message, "Mr. Garrett, what is stopping your nemesis worth to you?" This supports the idea of a third-party organization being involved in the attempts to destroy the Payday gang.
Bain is most certainly not dead, whoever was raiding his hideout was trying to capture him, because they must know he has information about the "holy grail." The police might have Bain in custody (probably in a hospital, Bain wouldn't go down without a fight), or a third-party organization seeking the downfall of the Payday gang has him. Ring any bells?
Hospital. No Mercy. No one knows what Bain looks like, so they have to do DNA samples to find "Patient X." This would most likely occur if Bain was taken by the police, because police are humane and put people in hospitals once they're severely wounded. (Bain's going to be injured for sure) Created with inspiration from MaxShouldier 's post about a "hospital."
Third-party organization wants the Payday gang out of town. I'll get to who this might be later in the post, but remember what Locke said in Heat Street? "Someone is out to get the Payday gang!" Locke knows more than we think he does about this whole scenario, he'll most likely become our (temporary?) new Bain.
Bain said as one of his very last transmissions, "Go to Brooklyn, Locke knows a guy." This could possibly allude to the Continental helping the gang out. Thanks to _FreeFaller , as well as lots of other pieces of information about the Dentist.
Interesting quote from the FBI Files heist description of Alaskan Deal: "After the Alaska event, rumors abound in the underworld of betrayal, but I haven’t been able to confirm anything."
Bain has blonde hair by the way. You can see the back of his head in the helicopter when the door opens for the CEO to get in.
VERY INTERESTING QUOTE from FBI Files heist description of Diamond Heist: "The fact that they took the bait on this is perfectly in line with how we will eventually to stop them. The timing of this hit is a bit odd, though. There’s something “off” about the Garnet Group in all of this, but I just can’t put my finger on it yet." - Garnet is FOR SURE part of the plot to destroy the Payday gang.
The Cuneiform writing from the FBI Files email reads, "From the hill to the path of the river, to the crossing of the honored dead at rest, you will find a place of reckoning." This could allude to many things, but the most possible relation I see is (Capitol) hill, the Potomac river, and Arlington National Cemetery (dead). Thanks to TheFlaredBaron for solving the Cuneiform puzzle, it has really narrowed down the theories!
On the map, black denotes to things alluded to from the Cuneiform translation, blue denotes possible heist locations (where the gang will find a place of reckoning), and red denotes a previous theory I had that is not very plausible anymore. My map derived from StealArty 's map of Washington D.C., showing the close relation of the Arlington National Cemetery, Capitol Hill, and the Potomac River.
There is no FBI Files heist description for the Reservoir Dogs Heist, but I'll update this with any interesting notes I find from it once/if it is added.
From the way the Commissioner is treating the emails (labeling them as spam), the likelihood that the police are behind the capture/murder of Bain becomes less likely. If the police had him, the Commissioner would know, unless the police also know we are inside the FBI Files.
Theory 1: The Dentist's Revenge
So, this all goes back to the Golden Grin Casino. The Dentist wanted us to steal the special loot, which was almost worthless to us, but seemingly very valuable to him. The loot had the symbol of the Illuminati on it, which is also found on the American $1 bill.
Bain might have realized what exactly the Dentist's loot was (holy grail?) and began making plants to steal it back, but the Dentist realized what was going on and sent his guys to deal with Bain.
The Dentist is known to have very extensive connections, which means he could have the means to take down the Payday gang.
Taken from the FBI Files heist description of Golden Grin Casino: "But, given all of this, the owners are being very cagey about what they Payday gang took. “They ripped the heart outta this place,” an employee was quoted as saying.
In the trailer for The Diamond, start at the 2:35 mark. The image you'll see will be The Diamond, with a reflection of Dallas in it, reaching for it. Soon after, a dark figure appears behind Dallas, and two ovals that appear to be eyes begin to glow. These ovals are an aqua color, and make the dark figure bear an obvious resemblance of The Dentist. The next image you will see shows someone (probably the dark figure) then proceeds to fire a silenced gun, and blood is spattered over The Diamond, obscuring any further reflections. Thanks to thejojobuitenzorg for pointing this information out.
This alludes to The Dentist doing anything to gain power and to get what he wants (if this is the case, it's really neat that a trailer from December 2014 leads up to what must be the finale of Payday 2)
Locke says that Bain had people he thought he could trust turn on him. Bain trusted the contacts, and the contacts trusted Bain. The Dentist (or some other contact, perhaps) betrayed this trust by selling Bain out.
Theory 2: The Yakuza
We didn't do Heat Street and Green Bridge for nothing. Where's Kento?
Kento could be in Mercy Hospital, just putting it out there.
The Japanese email address could allude to the Yakuza or Kento.
In the two jobs from the Search for Kento, we essentially kidnap two people. Matt (currently residing on Jacket's couch in the Safe House) hasn't told us anything. Kazuo (idk where he is) hasn't told us anything either.
This is taken from the Payday Wikia. Matt was sent as an informant by an unknown organization that wants to destroy the Payday gang. Who he was trying to inform, we can't know for certain. Locke tipped the gang off, letting us know someone was out to get us. Locke therefore could be a double agent within the unknown organization, which explains how he knew someone was out to get us during Heat Street and how he knew he had to get us out of DC.
Kento is perhaps behind the efforts to undermine the Payday gang.
If you can't tell, this is my least confident theory. Don't leave now though! Next theory is really good, I promise!
Theory 3: Garnet Group
During the Reservoir Dogs Heist, Bain says that there are "strange blockers" in the network he is hacking. (rip net neutrality?)
My speculation is that these blockers somehow traced Bain's location, which then notified the Garnet Group (or someone else) where Bain was. They then sent a task force to most likely kidnap (or maybe kill, who knows) Bain.
Supporting information that the Garnet Group is behind the email sent to the Commissioner: the sender asked him how much he was willing to pay/give for the destruction of the Payday gang. The Garnet Group is obviously very financially stable, so they could pay a lot to the Commissioner as a form of revenge after the Diamond Heist at their skyscraper.
The Garnet Group could be after Bain after he threw their CEO out of a helicopter.
Locke said he had to get us out of DC, and the only way he could do that was through Alaskan Deal. Locke therefore knew something was up, and he has been trying to help out Bain through this fiasco. The next heist, the Diamond Heist, directed by Bain, attacks the "financial backing" of Locke. If Bain knew that Locke was still on our side and was just getting us out of DC, why would we attack the Garnet Group?
There must have been another target. Perhaps the Garnet Group was secretly searching for the holy grail as well, and Bain wanted to take out their finances before they could do anything. This would also explain why Bain had us attack the Garnet Group (out of all the jewelry stores) a second time - to steal more of their wealth.
Hanging garden @ of yesterday (the email sender's address) could relate to the shrubbery around Garnet Group's skyscraper. Of yesterday could relate to a revenge plot because the Diamond Heist occurred in the past.
Theory 4: Hector's Revival This is just a theory to lighten the mood after I'm talking about everything else falling apart. Basically, one of the Payday gang's contracts is selling them out. We'll even include the dead ones, in case they tried to pull a fast one on the gang after they "died." This theory isn't necessary limited to Hector, it could be any other enemy of the Payday gang. Possible suspects: Hector (miraculously revived), Dmitri Volkov (Vlad's rival), the Mendozas, Professor Rossy (the scientist who created the engine in Big Oil), the Cobra gang (traded the meth with them, almost everyone steals it back), Murkywater, Grigori Beria (the Commissar, revived), Akan, the Overkill Motorcycle Club, Ernesto Sosa (revived), whoever tried to kidnap Charon, Garnet Group. Also, can we talk about where Ilija the Sniper went? He's an FBI informant for sure. One, final thought. Holy grail? WE SHALL RETAKE JERUSALEM! So that we might find the holy grail! DEUS VULT! tl;dr - Bain's in trouble. Locke is good. The Dentist or other contacts could be bad. Yakuza is mysterious. Garnet Group is fishy. Stuff from 2014 is starting to make sense. The Dentist is probably part of the Illuminati. And (probably) No Mercy - coming soon to a Payday 2 near you!
[Season 2] Detailed plot explanation for those who are confused on certain parts or can't follow the story. (No subplots)
[EDIT : Updated with Episode 8] Okay, I'm doing this summary for two reasons: Many people are having a hard time coping up with the plot and the plethora of characters in this season's story, so was I, so I started rewatching the season from Episode 1, and surprisingly, everything started making way more sense. I'd like to urge people to watch the season again, trust me, it seems much better and interesting and you are able to connect the dots well since you know what went down in the later episodes and hence it makes a lot more sense. Also, the other reason why I'm doing this is because I may still have quite a few misconceptions regarding this part of the story so I want others to clear it up for me, wherever I'm wrong. I have stressed over the financial dealings and tried to explain them as much as possible, since these are the places that people get confused the most. However, since I am no expert myself, I may be incorrect in some places. WARNING: This post will spoil your entire season. Do not read until you've watched all episodes at least once! You've been warned! Short and semi-chronological summary of the Frank/Caspere/Catalast affair in a chronological order. I've skipped speculation unless strongly hinted by the story itself. I have also skipped the personal subplots of each character and the secondary incidents that are not closely related.
In 1992, Los Angeles Riots take place and the entire city goes into frenzy. Shops are looted and people killed. A jewellery store called Sable Fine Jewellers is robbed by a bunch of people and the Ostermans, who are the couple running it are murdered by the robbers in cold blood, in front of their children, a boy named Leonard and a girl named Laura, who are hidden by the parents so the robbers don't see them. The security tapes capturing the incident was never found.
Three police officers, namely, William Holloway, Kevin Burris and Teague Dixon used to work in LAPD back in 1992. They were a tight group and along with the chief police accountant at that time, Benjamin Caspere, they had conspired and executed the robbery themselves, using the riots as a guise. The real motive for the heist, however, is more sinister. Caspere was having an affair with the Osterman wife, Margaret. Margaret was pregnant with Caspere and her second child, after Laura, who was in reality, Caspere’s daughter (Leonard however, was not Caspere’s child). Caspere wanted to break off the relationship, but Margaret threatened to go public with their affair. Caspere decided to kill two birds with one stone: he planned the robbery in such a way that they would walk away with a lot of jewellery and Margaret would be gotten rid of. The robbery went as planned and a lot of jewellery was stolen, including a bunch of blue diamonds.
The perpetrators of the robbery used the heavy loot to buy in to their six figure salaries in the corruption and crime filled Vinci, by bribing the mayor Theo Chessani. Over the course of 20 years, Holloway becomes the Chief of Vinci Police, Burris becomes his lieutenant and Dixon is a detective in the PD. Caspere, meanwhile is the Vinci city manager, involved in a lot of deals that goes down in the city.
Fast forward to 2015, the Government is planning to develop a rail corridor passing through the LA Counties near Vinci. All the corrupt Vinci businessmen and thugs are interested in the project and want to buy the land around the rail line, which will be worth a lot after the rail line is constructed, because of the commercial development around it.
Taking advantage of the situation, a Vinci mob boss Frank Semyon works along with Ben Caspere to set up a waste disposal plant around the rail corridor, in order to deliberately contaminate the land, thereby making it really cheap for people, including himself to buy into. They work with a Vinci firm called Catalast run by a certain Jacob McCandless, who buys all of the land so that nobody except the interested parties familiar to them can invest on it. This also gives Frank enough time to come up with some money on his own to buy some of the land.
Caspere quotes a price of $10m to Frank to buy into a part of the land. In reality the price is actually only $7m, but Frank is unaware that he is being hustled. Frank liquidates his assets by selling a lot of his properties and leasing them out but is only able to come up with 5 million. He needs $5m more to buy into the land deal. So he contacts the Israel Russian businessman cum mobster, Osip Agranov, a former associate, to be a partner and invest $5m into the deal, so that both of them can buy in.
Frank cannot pay Catalast directly, so he gives Caspere his 5 million, which is all his life savings, all he had with him, but Caspere obviously has the intention of fucking up Frank's life even more, as he doesn't invest this money at all. Meanwhile Frank and his wife Jordan host a party for the investors, which includes Osip, where Caspere is supposed to come and pitch the land deal to them, but for some reason he never shows up. Osip arrives to the part, but is seemingly chickened out of the deal he had agreed upon with Frank, believably due to Caspere's absence. Frank is furious. It is then shown than Caspere is murdered by an unknown assailant, who wears a bird mask (I'll refer to him as birdman from now on) and he is dumped by the highway in the Ventura County.
Caspere is officially declared as a missing person by Vinci PD and Det Ray Velcoro and Dixon is assigned to investigate. They visit Caspere's mansion, only to find it completely ransacked, hinting the fact the person who killed him was probably looking for something in his possession. Paul Woodrugh, a California Highway Patrol officer, who is struggling to understand his sexuality stumbles upon Caspere's body while on a possible suicide binge out of self-loathing. Velcoro is sent to the scene by Vinci PD and Det. Ani Bezzerides, is also sent there on behalf of Ventura County.
The investigation behind Caspere's death is set into motion. Ray and Dixon are assigned on behalf of Vinci PD, Ani and Paul are assigned on behalf of Ventura County and the State Department. However, each party has ulterior motives they want to achieve on the pretext of working on this investigation. State Attorney Richard Geldof and State investigator Katherine Davis believe that this is a good opportunity to probe into the corruption in Vinci and they want Ani and Paul to probe into the inner workings of the city, using the investigation as a cover. Ani is given explicit instructions to investigate Ray, who the state believes to be corrupt. Ray, on the other hand, is instructed by Burris, Holloway and Vinci Mayor Austin Chessani (referred further as The Mayor) to steer the investigation away from the city and to prevent a lot of exposure. The Mayor believes that the state is not happy that Vinci gets to keep most of it's collected taxes and insinuates that Geldof is probably corrupted and wants to strong-arm Vinci into letting him be a part of their corruption.
Ray and Frank are also each other's informants. The two have a history since Frank helped find the supposed rapist of Ray's wife and they've been working together since with mutual benefits. Frank also puts pressure on Ray to find Caspere's killer since the killer may have all his money that Caspere stashed. Frank is furious when he learns from McCandless that Caspere hustled him over the price of land. He wants to buy into the deal again, so he goes on looking for owed debts and retaking places he used to run
Meanwhile, the three investigators go on looking for clues, and come to hear about a huge party held every month, most probably an orgy, that are filled with hookers and influential businessmen. They learn from The Mayor, Caspere's shrink Dr. Irving Pitlor, Ani's sister Athena and Caspere's acquaintance, a director of the movie he was co-producing, that Caspere was indeed a part of these parties and he also frequented a lot of women, mostly one particular hooker named Tascha. Frank learns from Danny Santos, the current owner of Lux and a hooker in club, about a mansion in Hollywood leased to Caspere by Catalast, where he took all his women, and he passes this info to Ray, who goes to investigate alone in the house. There he finds all sorts of weird stuff that Caspere fetished on, including a camera and a hard drive, possibly containing clues to Caspere's killer. Before he could investigate any further, Ray is shot gunned to the chest with rubber bullets by Birdman and is knocked out cold, while the Birdman makes way with the hard drive.
The investigators find a lot of phone calls from Caspere to The Mayor's house. Ani and Paul go to investigate The Mayor's house without a warrant. There they find his son Anthony 'Tony' Chessani (Tony, in future references) who tells that he works as an organiser and arranges "specialty events" (the orgies maybe?). He claims he doesn't know much about Caspere except for the fact that he worked with his father, The Mayor and has no clue about the phone calls. We will soon come to know that these calls from Caspere were not for The Mayor, but Tony himself. The Mayor comes to know about this surprise visit and is furious, and wants Ani's head on a plate.
In the meantime, Osip completely cans his deal with Frank and leaves, leaving Frank distraught. Stan, one of Frank's closest henchmen, is found murdered. In desperation, Frank usurps Santos and takes over the Lux. Jordan sets up a meeting with her former producer boyfriend (we'll call him 'Dipshit' since this is what frank calls him and we don't know his name). It is implied that Dipshit impregnated Jordan who aborted the baby, causing her to have a condition where she couldn't bear a child. Since Osip has backed off, Frank has to convince Dipshit to invest with him instead, but Dipshit seems unsold.
Frank goes to The Mayor to pay his vig. It seems he's short $10k because of his financial situation. The Mayor isn't happy and hints that there maybe some people interested in Frank's casino. We get to see later on what this really means.
Paul meets up with a friend from his mercenary days. It is implied that both have a homosexual relationship. Unknown to Paul, Dixon is secretly photographing both of them.
Paul also questions hookers and finds from a couple of gay gigolos that Tascha has been missing for several days. Ani and Ray go to investigate a driver of the stolen car that dropped Caspere's corpse. The driver worked for the film company but quit the day before. As they are talking, they hear an explosion nearby and rush, only to find the stolen car being torched by the Birdman. The two chase after him but fail to catch up and he escapes.
Paul meets gets drunk and finds his merc buddy he had a fight with and the two go back to his apartment and have a session of make up sex, which is also photographed by Dixon. Turns out Dixon lost/spent all of his loot from ’92 and he was looking for something to blackmail the PD. It is still unclear though, as to why he was photographing Paul. It also explains why he is still a regular detective, when Burris and Holloway are in such high posts.
Ani and Ray talk to Betty, The Mayor's daughter who reveals that her mother started suffering from schizophrenia when she was young, and was committed to a mental institution. The doctor assigned to her was Pitlor. Seeing all these connections pop up, and also since Pitlor mentioned he knew Ani's father, Ani goes to Elliott Bezzerides to get some clarity. Elliott confirms that he knew Pitlor and they were all a part of a hedonistic movement led by The Mayor's father Theo Chessani. They included The Mayor, Pitlor and Caspere.
The Mayor, still infuriated with Ani, decides to pull some strings, gets a subordinate cop who had a sexual relationship with Ani to slap a sexual harassment case. The IA investigates Ani's departmental sexual relations, with the cop and with her partner Elvis Ilinca, her gambling debts and other professional standards and she is suspended from the department.
Ani and Paul also find one of Caspere's safe deposit box, which contains some mysterious blue diamonds (recall that a bunch of blue diamonds were stolen in 1992). Paul and Dixon follow up on items stolen from Casper's home. A lot of these turn up in pawn shops around California, including more of the jewellery from Caspere. Turns out that a prostitute named Irina Rulfo and her pimp Ledo Amarilla pawned these. Caspere was known to have been a client of Rulfo and the PD believe that Amarilla and Rulfo are the ones who killed and robbed him and decide to go after Amarilla, who is hiding out in his meth lab. This is actually a setup by Burris and Holloway, as it is later revealed that Burris was the one who handed Rulfo the jewels and Caspere’s belongings. The Mayor is also hinted to have conspired. The probable reason for this setup was that the investigation of Caspere was digging open too many graves and discovering closeted skeletons so the bosses decided it was best for them to frame Amarilla and end this investigation once and for all. Dixon was snooping around for more blackmail evidence, so the PD planted a tip through him about Amarilla and he took the bait. The bust results in a massive shootout and there is a huge loss of life. Dixon is shot in his head during the shootout and killed, therefore effectively silenced and the investigation is closed, with the official report claiming Amarilla to be responsible. It is evident that Geldof had made a deal with Holloway, Burris and The Mayor and decided to close the investigation and run for governor, therefore effectively getting off their back and joining hands with them.
Ray quits Vinci PD and becomes Frank's enforcer. Burris comes over to ask if Dixon has mentioned anything about his side activities, or about the photographs that he used to take (he didn't explicitly mention Paul's photos though).
Frank visits The Mayor again, asking about the mysterious death of the owner of the waste management plant he sold. He also asks about the people interested in the casino and The Mayor says there are some 'foreign interests'. Hmmm... very strong foreshadowing there. Blake, Frank's right hand man, been disappearing randomly. Wonder what's going on... Frank suspects that he was muscled out of the rail corridor and feels that Blake may have a part in it. He entrusts Ray to follow Blake and see what he's up to.
Ani and Elvis were serving a foreclosure for a house where a Hispanic woman named Dani Machiado lives. They have a case of a missing girl named Vera, who is the sister of Dani. When Ani goes to check on Dani later on, she gives him a set of photographs from what we can conclude is the "party" referred throughout the series. In these photos are Caspere and a state senator with a bunch of prostitutes surrounding them. Somehow, there are even photos of the diamonds that Ani and Paul retrieved from Caspere's safe deposit box. Seems like the diamonds went missing from evidence. Paul goes around pawn shops enquiring about the diamonds. One of the pawn shop owners tell him that these diamonds are unique and are probably stolen (yeah, no shit!). But the biggest bombshell is the fact that Dixon was looking for them too. Even before Ani and Paul discovered them in Caspere's deposit box, which explains that Dixon was planning to blackmail his former partners in crime by getting his hands on the diamonds.
Ray tails Blake and we finally get to know what's going on behind Frank's back. Apparently the surgeries in seen earlier in Pitlor's clinic were actually cosmetic surgeries intended for these prostitutes for trafficking and the orgy. Tony, according to Pitlor was a 'pimp with a political ambition', he teamed up with Caspere to set up these parties to gain influence with the powerful businessmen (McCandless is one of them), politicians, policemen and mobsters and set up deals that Caspere facilitated on the rail corridor. The people in these parties were recorded as well, which served as a valuable bargaining chip for Tony and Caspere so that they could easily have their way. Pitlor also reveals that The Mayor wasn't a part of this affair. We see that after the death of Casper, Osip wants in on the parties and the railway land and Blake is helping him to do that, and double-crossing Frank in the process.
Frank visits McCandless in a last ditch effort to get himself some land, unnerves him with the story of the death of waste management plant owner. McCandless tell him that if he could manage to get Caspere's hard drive that Birdman stole, Frank would be given five parcels of land.
Davis smells something fishy with Geldof's sudden actions and realizes that he's probably bent and in bend with the Vinci powers, since he suddenly stopped pursuing them and started running for Governor with a massive funding, unaccounted for. She believes that there is a certain connection between him and the powers that be, and the Mexicans surely didn't kill Caspere. She puts up a secret investigative team, off the books, comprising of Ray, Ani and Paul. Ani gets a tip from Elvis who says that a call came to Vera's roommate from her from Guerneville, and also Caspere's GPS had shown that he had frequented that place. Paul and Ani decide to follow up and they find an old cabin there. They also find an outhouse where someone seemed to have been tied and brutally murdered. It is later revealed that it was Tascha, the missing hooker that Caspere frequented, who was killed in the outhouse. She collected evidence as a leverage in order to get out of the parties and it was her that sent the photos to Vera's sister. Unfortunately for her, Tascha was discovered and killed.
Ani asks her sister to get her into one of these parties through her webcam contacts. She goes undercover and successfully infiltrates the party, which we now see is clearly an orgy. We see Geldof there with Blake, confirming Davis' suspicion that he has turned. We also see Osip, McCandless, Tony and Holloway there as well. This pretty much confirms our suspicions. Paul overhears Osip and McCandless talking over a deal. Turns out, Osip is investing $12m in the rail land. Once they leave, Paul breaks in and steals all the contract documents from McCandless' office. Meanwhile Ani finds Vera half conscious and tries to grab her and flee, killing a guard in the process. The trio manage to escape from the scene.
Ray and Paul go through the documents and find out that Caspere's holding company did own some land. The chief treasurer of this company was none other than Blake, himself. It is possible that Caspere bought the land through this holding company using Frank's money, as Ray later tells Frank. The contract was claused in such a way (most probably by Blake) that in the event of Caspere's death, Osip and Tony could buy back Caspere's land shares for pennies (which in all probability, belongs to Frank). This was motive enough for Tony & Co. to kill Caspere, however, this would have set up the clusterfuck that resulted out of the murder, which makes it improbable that they were the ones who did it, since it wasn't really worth the exposure, especially from the state.
Paul investigates and finds out about Holloway's, Burris', Dixon's and Caspere's connection to the '92 robberies. He also finds out that Ani is wanted by the state for questioning over the guard she killed. Ray goes to turn over his report of Geldof and the parties to Davis only to find someone took her out. Soon, state-wide APBs are put on Ray and Ani. The trio connect the dots and it becomes clear that Burris and Holloway were looking for the diamonds since it was an incriminating evidence against them for the 1992 robberies. Dixon was looking for them to blackmail Burris and Holloway. Tascha had probably taken the pictures of the diamond as an evidence against Caspere. It also explained why the diamonds went missing after Ani and Paul found them. The trio contemplate going over to FBI or the Ventura County PD but it seems that there isn't enough evidence to support their cause.
Frank finally confronts Blake, who confirms his worst fears. Turns out Osip became interested in usurping Frank ever since they met in Paris, and Blake was double crossing Frank all along. Osip was the one bringing European women into the country for prostitution. According to Blake, Stan started snooping into the deals and blackmailing Blake to make him a part of the affair, so Blake had him killed in a manner that would make it seem that his death was connected to Caspere. Frank however, refuses to believe Blake's allegation on Stan. Blake confirms that Osip and Tony have taken over his money in form of the land, however, they are not the ones who killed Caspere. At this point the killer is still unknown. Blake tells Frank about Osip's 12 million deal with Catalast where the money would be paid in cash. He also confirms that the Ray's wife rapist intel he supplied to Frank was false. He tells that everybody have been turned by Osip against Frank, including his own men, except for Nails (the scary looking henchman of Frank). Frank kills Blake out of rage.
Frank finds The Mayor heavily drunk in his casino, and spills the beans about Tony to him, about how Tony plans to usurp his father, buy bribing Geldof and working with Osip. The Mayor is unnerved and rushes home. It is implied that an off screen confrontation took place between Tony and The Mayor, which inevitably ended up the Mayor getting killed. The murder is made to look like a suicide where the Mayor seemed to have overdosed on alcohol and prescription pills and drowned. Back in Frank’s casino, Osip arrives and says that he has purchased both the Lux and the Casino by paying the lien (the businesses were double mortgaged, and Frank was in no position to pay up anytime soon). Frank plays along with Osip but later torches both the places to the ground and takes all their earnings in the safe. He plans for a big getaway to Venezuela with Jordan, but before that he plans to sabotage the Osip-Catalast cash handoff.
Holloway and Burris is spooked when Paul investigates them. They blackmail him with the gay photos that Dixon took. Paul falls prey and arrives to the meeting place and finds out that Black Mountain, a Private Military Contractor he used to work for, has now gone through an overhaul and work as security for Catalast. Paul's gay acquaintance actually turns out to work for them. He is taken to a subway tunnel where Holloway confronts him about his investigation, but Paul is able to trick him and knock him out and manages to kill the rest of the Black Mountain soldiers. As he is escaping Paul is shot dead by Burris who was hiding outside as an ambush.
Ani and Ray investigate Tascha’s photos and they find a familiar looking face. Its Caspere’s personal assistant Erica, who looks eerily familiar to the orphaned daughter Laura. The two recall when they had met her while visiting the movie set, and that the only person that she conversed with was the set photographer (the one who told Ray about the parties), and he fit the match of a grown up Leonard Osterman. They suspect that the set photographer is indeed Birdman, because the twins have very much the motive to kill Caspere. They get the set photographer’s address and search his house, where their suspicions are confirmed, when they find the bird mask and the white mask that Birdman wore while torching the car. They also find the rubber shells and the shotgun he attacked Ray with. Inside the house they find Laura handcuffed. She reveals that she was separated from her brother and as she grew up, she took to the streets and gradually worked her way into one of these parties as a prostitute, until Tascha introduced her to Caspere. Soon she became Caspere’s assistant, however she reveals that she would seduce him every night, get him drugged and make him reveal his secrets. Soon, she found her brother, to whom she told the entire thing. However, before Caspere could reveal everything, Leonard kills him out of rage and dumps him by the highway (thereby setting the story in motion). Laura says that Leonard has made a deal with Holloway and Burris to give him the hard drive (which contains nothing, since it auto deleted it’s contents once they failed to put in the right password) in exchange for the diamonds (they didn’t go missing from evidence, Holloway and Burris had them all along). It is therefore evident that Leonard was actually going to kill Holloway and/or Burris.
To stop Leonard from killing Holloway, Ray goes to the meeting place, a railway station, where he finds him. Ray convinces Leonard that he will handle the situation by talking to Holloway while he hides and listens behind. Holloway arrives and He tells that he has the hard drive and the land documents and he will only turn them over if Holloway gives him the diamonds (he has brought fake ones to the deal, anticipating it to go awry). Ray makes him spill everything about the ’92 robberies, while he secretly records it. When he speaks about Margaret’s affair with Caspere and how Leonard's sister is actually Caspere’s daughter, Leonard is enraged and in a fit, attacks Holloway with a knife. A shootout ensues between Ray, Burris, Holloway and Leonard which involves Ray and Burris escaping while Leonard and Holloway are shot by the cops. The recorder is destroyed. Ani sends Laura away from California.
In a last ditch attempt, Ray and Ani plan to flee the country. Frank sends Jordan to Venezuela along with Nails and promises he will be with her in a couple weeks. But first, Ray goes along with Frank to sabotage Catalyst-Osip deal. The duo get the car and guns from the Armenians, drop in to the deal and a shootout ensues where all of Osip’s men including Osip and McCandless are killed. Meanwhile Ani, goes to Pitlor's clinic, only to find that somebody slashed his wrists. Ray and Frank split the $12m and Frank exchanges the money for diamonds. Frank is on his way out of the country when he is subdued by the Mexican cartel. If you recall, Frank had made a deal with the Mexicans for leasing out Lux to them as a front for drugs, in exchange for a talk with Irina Rulfo. The Mexicans didn’t like the club burning to the ground and Frank’s concurrent deal with the Armenians, so they hold Frank responsible and take him to the desert to kill him. Frank still makes them spare him by paying them a million dollars but one of the gang members want the suit he’s wearing, where he has kept the diamonds. Frank refuses to let it go, and the gangbanger stabs him as a result, and the Mexicans drive off, leaving him in the middle of nowhere. Frank tries to walk but he is far from any road and his stab wound is serious. He soon collapses in the middle of the desert and dies.
Ray realizes that he can’t leave without seeing his child one final time, so despite his woes, he drives to Chad’s school. The police seem to be staking it out and when they find Ray driving in, they tag it with a transponder. Ray realizes this and he calls and tells Felicia, the bar owner to make Ani get on board the boat to Venezuela, since he probably won't make it. Ray tries to outrun the cops and drives into the woods but the cops are in his tail. He gets to a forest and runs on foot, but the cops led by Burris are able to chase him and shoot him dead.
In the epilogue, it is shown that Geldof inaugurates the rail line project with Catalast, Tony becomes the new mayor of Vinci with Mr. Chinese Khe Sanh his aide, and Burris the new police chief. We see the Mexicans surrounding Tony, indicating that Tony might have tipped Frank off to them. Ray’s paternity test result shows that he is indeed Chad’s real father. Ani is in Venezuela with Jordan and Nails, and she recounts her story to an LA Times reporter and hands him over the evidence, which include the land documents and the photographs (this is the same reporter whom Ray beat up on behalf of Frank in the first episode for trying to expose corruption in Vinci). It is then shown that Ray and Ani’s encounter in the motel had led to a child between them.
I suppose that's all to it. If I've missed something or got anything wrong, do point it out. If you have any other questions related to the plot do ask them.
It's rare that a GTAO DLC drought/announcement/debut is without discussion of additions the players want to see. It could be something base to the idea of the series like a car (to all you PMP 600 fans), an additional game mode or an alteration to an existing one (Cops & Robbers for instance) or the opening of an entirely new property asset-in this case, the casino. While we can speculate all we want, there are tremendous obstacles in place an online-focused GTA casino would face operating in the sense that many of us would like:
Issue 1: GTAO is Global
While many of us are quick to disparage Rockstar, they have created a global online community that is still one of the most prominent gaming choices for console players- even roughly five years later. If we were to focus on one country, the United States is slowly adopting sports-based gambling laws on a state level after the repeal of PASPA earlier in May this year. Skin gambling continues to be a contentious issue & studios have taken their share of flak over lootboxes & P2P/P2W practices. That Tyson vs. Secretariat fight took place in international waters, but there's not many publicly traded companies that are willing to stake their business by operating their servers off-shore. There is no "across the board" solution for a media product like this that could take money for traditional variable wagering worldwide.
Issue 2: Player Funds- Purchase vs. Earned
Continuing a viewpoint from the U.S., there would be an integral problem if Rockstar would allow wagering at a variable player interval with GTA$ purchased with actual currency. A close similarity in the States would be the issue facing many fantasy sports companies when it comes to the segregation of player funds & operating funds as a result of legislation building on the principles of the Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act. Do note that this stems from scummy companies who have cheated customers AND companies who have dealt with chargebacks via cards customers used for purchases. Additionally, we've seen that Rockstar's anti-cheat methods & other protocols like dupe detection have been suspect at best, so it's a bit to ask that much of their underlying code gets reworked when we've seen how core launch elements (armored trucks) get scrapped for bigger picture ideas. As someone who works in the industry, I'd love to hear some further discussion, but I'd sooner like to see a re-imagining of the casino to feature what the community would truly play- there's no need for wagering, let us run it like a business or use it for a heist. TL;DR: The creation of an operational GTAO casino location that would function as a place for betting has much to figure out from a legal landscape & would best be reworked as a heist location or a business.
Real / Rieol (2017) Movie Explained: Why it's not as bad as the memes said it was
Edit: I've posted a much cleaner version with pictures over at medium. Because I don't really know where to post this and I don't really want to start a blog just for this post, I'm just going to do it here (I hope it's alright). Long read, wall of texts, and full of spoilers. Stop right now if you haven't watched the film. But don't let me stop you if you want to spoil it to yourself. Just don't blame me. ;D Real is a film trying to emulate the mindfuckery in films like Memento, Inception, and Fight Club but its convoluted plot and obvious plot twists bogs down any effort to make the audiences' mind blown; it instead bombed in the box office and gave birth to a lot of memes. It's a visual spectacle with frankly, one of the best action sequences in recent films but lacked finesse in how it used non-linear storytelling like the films it was trying to emulate. It's still a worthwhile watch because it at least tries to push the envelope quite a bit rather than going with the usual noir films South Korea tends to make. Maybe it just pushed a tad much for many people.
Plot Explanation
The movie uses dream sequences where we see the characters hallucinate events or experience flashbacks, to make sense of it, we'll have to arrange the events chronologically. So let's start with the backstory: There is a drug trade rivalry between the Chinese and Russian mafias. Cho sells cocaine while Prof. Kim, the mafia enforcer, sells a synthetic drug called siesta. The latter is highly addictive which leads eventually to the user's death. Detective Noh is after the drug ring which was also connected to multiple disappearances and was working with a freelance journalist, Jang Tae Young, to expose the story. For his research on the new drug, Jang Tae Young began using siesta while documenting its effects. He also went undercover and joined the Russian mafia, which was how he got his neck tattoo. It is not clear how he met his girlfriend (before working with the story or after) but she was also a siesta addict. She eventually hits the point where the drug kills the body and as she was slowly bleeding to death, he killed her and this trauma caused his mind to break. He overdosed on drugs and tried to kill himself. He was involved in a car accident with the millionaire. Both survived but the millionaire is in a vegetative state while the next time we see reporter Jang in his hospital bed after the accident, it was already gangster Jang that controls the body.
The Doctor
Before we continue, we have to reveal Doctor Choi's true identity which was one of the plot twists in the movie. He is Boris or the head of the Russian mafia and creator of siesta. This drug is something he administers to his patients in the hospital. Depending on its use, it can either "save" the patient or eventually kill them. What fascinated the doctor was Jang and the millionaire were able to overcome the addiction to siesta by disassociating; though, how they disassociated were different. Jang suffered from disassociative identity disorder so he created a persona who is strong, no-nonsense and hates drugs. The millionaire suffered from depersonalization disorder where he detached from himself and became an observer to his body's vegetative state; or as Doctor Choi put it, he was "existing in a shell, like a ghost". The doctor was also the only other user of the drug that overcame the point where death occurs. It's not apparent if it induced any disorder in him. His character was a typical psychopath in sheep's clothing. He is Hannibal Lecter-esque in manipulating both Jang's and the millionaire's mental issues for his own amusement. Though how much of the events in the movie has he orchestrated and how much were coincidence, is not very clear.
When the millionaire was declared in a vegetative state, siesta was given to him. A druggie, his body became addicted to the drug even in his coma. It slowly "killed" his original persona (as characterized by a dream sequence where we see him bleeding then drowning). Meanwhile, the gangster realized he was experiencing blackouts (the English subtitle called it insomnia, but that doesn't fit the context of the story) which prompted him to seek treatment from Doctor Choi. This is where the movie begins. During the opening scene, we see a metronome tick as they were about to begin the session. Then in the next session when the doctor was about to wake up the other persona, the metronome was shown again. This leads me to believe that therapy might have actually started since after the accident 3 years ago. That's why the first question the doctor asked, at the start of the session was, "what is your occupation?" to confirm which persona he was talking with. Because they don't share the memories of their other persona, gangster Jang doesn't know anything about reporter Jang except that he wears glasses, owns a condo, and visits someone in the hospital. Though they do share a particular memory. Gangster Jang at least remembers his lover was raped by a person with the same tattoo as his. He doesn't remember that it was from a tattoo for the Russian mafia. And that the word 'siesta' was important to him so he will eventually name his casino after it. Also, both of their lovers abuse drugs. Gangster Jang came face to face with his other persona during a job. He works as a fixer for the rich and powerful while he tries to build his own casino. However, his casino plans hit a snag when his investors are murdered by an unknown gunman. He was shot in the shoulders and that's when he saw that his reflection in the glass window was his alter ego. Strangely, whenever reporter Jang controls the body, he visits the millionaire in the hospital. That's why gangster Jang said to the doctor, "there's a place he goes to". We were never really told why (maybe he thought he caused the accident) but it also fascinated Doctor Choi and how his plan to "murder" reporter Jang came about. Although it was never really explained how the plan works. It might have been something like "imprinting" or transferring reporter Jang's memories to the millionaire. Doctor Choi was reading him a notebook that might have been written by reporter Jang. The curious thing in the hospital scene is, what does the transition of something blue (most likely siesta) mixing with water symbolizes? In the movie, whenever water is involved, it signifies something happening in the subconscious or a change in personas. For example: when gangster Jang saw his other persona in the window, the glass window became water; or when they changed places, reporter Jang woke up under the lake and swam up for air. The only answer I can think of is, it symbolizes the awakening of the other persona within the millionaire. So what really happened? Doctor Choi tricked reporter Jang into believing that by killing the millionaire, he will kill this ego. As he hears the flat line, the reporter Jang persona burrows deep into the subconscious and only awakens later in the movie. Then gangster Jang wakes up and realizes his other persona took over again. As he rushed out of the room, the millionaire physically wakes up from his coma. Some time passed. Gangster Jang has built his resort-casino named Siesta. He doesn't know the reason why he named it such. He hasn't suffered a blackout since he stormed out of a hospital room which made him believe Doctor Choi's lie that his alter ego is gone after witnessing the brain-dead patient it often visits die. Meanwhile, the millionaire had plastic surgery, changed his name to Jang Tae Young (which from now on I'm going to refer to as fake Jang), practiced mimicking Jang's every move, and was slowly infiltrating gangster Jang's life.
The Giovanni Mirror Syndrome
Before we continue, we need to discuss fake Jang's psychosis. According to Doctor Choi, he suffers from Giovanni Mirror Syndrome. It's a rare neurological condition only seen in real life once after the patient damaged parts of his brain after a heart attack. The patient assumes a role his environment dictates and remains that until the scenario changed. In fiction, it can be seen in the movie Zelig and in an episode of House). Both characterizations don't apply to fake Jang though since he doesn't mimic anyone but Jang Tae Young. More importantly, the mirroring doesn't come naturally as how patients who suffer the mirror syndrome supposedly do it; fake Jang watched hours of footage of gangster Jang to mimic his whole personality. There is a movie called Single White Female that is closer to the mirroring by fake Jang. In that movie, the character was obsessed at copying her roommate to deal with her survivor's guilt after her twin's death. Here, the millionaire drowned (metaphorically and psychologically speaking) his consciousness and what's left is an alter ego who mirrored a personality that was created to overcome the same addiction (gangster Jang). What is an interesting detail in the movie is, fake Jang never became the reporter Jang we saw in the beginning. He tried to mimic the videos reporter Jang filmed to document his use of siesta, but he never achieved the level of mimicry as he did with gangster Jang.
There are two battles in this chapter: the mafia drug war and fake Jang stealing Jang's life. These two are related because fake Jang used the mafia drug war to infiltrate and then later take over Jang's life. Cho, the head of the Chinese mafia, bought half of Siesta. What he didn't know was, the right-hand man of Prof. Kim, Kil-su, has infiltrated his organization. The Russian mafia also wanted control of the resort-casino since it is the perfect place to sell their drugs. Desperate to buy off Cho's share in his casino, gangster Jang scrambled to put together the money. This was the opening fake Jang was waiting for. They reached a deal with a few conditions: gangster Jang will help fake Jang bring down Cho's drug ring for his story, hand over his condo, and a dinner with his girlfrend, Song. What gangster Jang didn't know was fake Jang was working with a Russian-Korean businessman named Sergei aka Prof. Kim, the Russian mafia enforcer. Unlike the real reporter Jang, fake Jang isn't really working towards uncovering the truth and exposing the story on the synthetic drug for altruistic reasons. It was just a means to an end of becoming gangster Jang. An expose on Cho is the only reason gangster Jang will trust him and continually interact with him until he is ready to become gangster Jang. He needed to work with the Russians because it is the only way he can bring down Cho. Then eventually, with Detective Noh, they will expose the Russian mafia's synthetic drug ring. Things didn't go as fake Jang planned. Cho, who escaped arrest, was pressuring gangster Jang to help him find the Russian who orchestrated his arrest. Gangster Jang threw him a bone and tipped him where he can find the reporter after a party. But since he bugged gangster Jang for surveillance, fake Jang made his move to switch places with gangster Jang during the party. Cho rammed the reporter's car with the truck of doom. Still alive, Cho shot gangster Jang thinking he was the reporter and kidnapped Song to blackmail who he thought was gangster Jang to help him find his rival mafia boss. Fake Jang takes off and assumes the identity of gangster Jang. While gangster Jang survives the gunshot with the help of Detective Noh.
During fake Jang's transformation to gangster Jang, he started using drugs. The first instance we saw him use drugs was after he discovered reporter Jang's videos for his research on siesta. He then re-created the scene in the bathtub. What I'm not sure is what drugs he took. He nicked a bag of cocaine during the raid with gangster Jang in Cho's operation and then he found a stash of drugs in reporter Jang's things (presumably siesta). The gum he gave gangster Jang and Song was colored blue (probably made from siesta). We only know two things about the millionaire's true persona: he was a druggie and suicidal. The millionaire was high while driving his sports car recklessly and he got addicted to siesta during his coma. Fake Jang justifies his drug use as being true to who the real reporter Jang was and like reporter Jang, he will be able to "conquer" the drugs. But it's just a lie he feeds into his delusion. In reality, the more fake Jang tries to become gangster Jang, the more he became addicted to drugs. And the more he used drugs, the more he loses the copy of gangster Jang he tried so hard to recreate. There is a poetic irony to this. Reporter Jang created the persona of gangster Jang to "conquer" his drug problem while for the millionaire, the more he transforms himself to copy that persona, his drug problem worsens. Cho noticed this break in character in who he thought was gangster Jang. After fake Jang pressured Prof. Kim to produce the mole to appease Cho, he brought Kil-su to Cho wearing a bulletproof vest and he visibly flinched when Cho shot his bodyguard and Kil-su. Cho mocked fake Jang for it and told him that if he wanted to get Song back, he'll have to bring the Russian mafia boss to him. Meanwhile, gangster Jang was about to face his real self. Weak and still recovering from the gunshot and being bulldozed by the truck of doom, he proposed to fake Jang that they should work together to get back Song from Cho. But fake Jang rejected him and threatened to kill him next time they see each other. Detective Noh brings him to reporter Jang's condo where he sees the truth about his alter ego. At wit's end, gangster Jang tries to wake up his alter ego by taking siesta—he got flashes of reporter Jang's memories when fake Jang drugged him previously—and submerging into a bathtub full of ice (to induce hallucinations and reduce memory loss). The events after he takes the drug is a dream sequence (it's happening in his mind) because of the water effect when he sees the secret room, an event his mind has suppressed for him so he can forget. Reporter Jang emerges, angry that he didn't "die". Like at the beginning of the movie, he relives the traumatic event but here, we finally see what really happened. The Russian mafia members are having a wild party in a secret room involving sex and drugs. It is not clear why Jang's girlfriend was there whether she was a hooker or she was just invited to the party or something else. Most of the participants overdosed on siesta and bled to death. Jang was sent to clean up the room. He finds his girlfriend dying and choking on her own blood. After Prof. Kim passes him by and leaves the room, he kills his girlfriend to end her suffering. The trauma gave birth to his alter ego, a gangster who has to find the man with a neck tattoo on his right shoulder—it was Boris/Doctor Choi. Sergei/Prof. Kim's tattoo was on his chest—who raped his girlfriend. When Jang emerges from the ice-filled bathtub, he is whole; the memories, personalities, and goals, of the two personas, have merged. Gangster Jang understands why he existed and reporter Jang now has the resolve to enact his revenge and face what he has done. While Jang was having his epiphany, Detective Noh, who told Jang to stay away from the case from now on, followed Prof. Kim. When fake Jang confronted him about Kil-su, Prof. Kim realized he was not dealing with his former henchman. He returned to the secret room and found the bodies Jang was supposed to clean-up. Detective Noh's distress in seeing the video of Jang's former girlfriend implies a connection to her but there wasn't any detail about him in the movie. Because of his reaction, he was discovered by the mafia and promptly killed. Fortunately, he sent his location to Jang before things went south. After Jang sees Detective Noh's dead body, he contacts Cho and convinces him that he is the real Jang and that he can find Boris. He leads him to his former mafia boss's house. But Prof. Kim is killed before they can extract information from him. They next went to Councilor Choi who overdosed on Siesta before he can answer the question. Cho finds the councilor's phone and sees that the number listed as Boris is the same as his family doctor. A gambling addict, they went to Siesta to find Boris. Meanwhile, fake Jang's lawyer has finally uncovered the identity of Boris, the Russian mafia's boss. Fake Jang makes his preparations before he confronts Doctor Choi aka Boris; a gambling addict at his casino, he placed explosives in Doctor Choi's casino briefcase. He goes to the hospital and aims his gun at Doctor Choi. The doctor distracts him by telling him the truth of what happened to him and who he really was. Dazed, the doctor doses him with siesta. Doctor Choi continues to reveal the truth of how he was a mere ghost in a shell who latched on to his frequent visitor Jang. The next scene after this is quite illogical. Fake Jang believes Song was held by Cho who hid the girl with his family doctor. So he has no way of knowing that Boris has Song and was, in fact, trying to capture Boris so he can get Song back from Cho. But since he was drugged, maybe he was just delirious. Anyway, Fake Jang asks about Song so Doctor Choi reveals that she was left in his care. But he didn't know she was pregnant and she was sneaking around stealing painkillers. The baby might have been his because she was sligthly nodding when the doctor revealed it but there weren't intimate scenes of them in the movie. She became a siesta addict and is slowly dying. After Doctor Choi takes a hit of siesta, he was about to kill them both when he decides against it and leaves the gun in the bed. Now the next scene is very interesting. An opportunity Doctor Choi seized or by his design, fake Jang is about to recreate the traumatic experience Jang had. He is faced with the choice of ending the life of the girl he loves to spare her of further suffering or not doing anything since she's going to die anyway. A coward, he cannot pull the trigger until it was too late for him to decide. I got to hand it to Kim Soo Hyun, there is a moment after Sulli's character dies where he really showed his potential as a character actor. He was able to physically show his character, fake Jang, yet again was experiencing depersonalization as a defense mechanism to trauma. The way he moved his eyes, tilted his head, then changed his expression from distraught to cold empty eyes in a second, and yet he was still able to imbue it with the campy vibe the millionaire's alter ego had before he transformed into fake Jang. Moving on, fake Jang leaves Song's dead body and picks up the casino chip on the bathroom floor and takes a hit of the siesta hidden inside. He chases Doctor Choi's car recklessly and we witness his mind breaking. He went from maniacally laughing to maniacally sobbing in seconds, and as he exits the tunnel and the scenery gets a water effect, his depersonalization is done and he has detached his mind to his body again like what happened to the millionaire in his coma. He aimlessly enters the casino forgetting he was chasing Doctor Choi. He was sitting at the bar, semiconscious, just as Cho's gang arrives at the casino in search of Doctor Choi. A gunfight ensues. Doctor Choi retrieves his briefcase with chips and drugs out of the casino vault and hurriedly tries to smuggle it out of the casino. Cho aims his gun at Fake Jang who is still dazed, but Doctor Choi shoots Cho before the Chinese mafia boss could pull the trigger. And as Doctor Choi reaches the main door, he encounters Jang who he shoots in the shoulder. Luckily, Doctor Choi ran out of bullets and Jang was able to kill him first. Doctor Choi drops his briefcase with the hidden explosives.
Ending Explained
As chaos erupts in the casino, fake Jang is having an out of the body experience. With his guilt over Song's death, his complicated feelings towards her, and his regrets, he forced his mind to embody a person who could avenge her. And his mind conjured up his memories of watching gangster Jang as he singlehandedly fought Cho's gang in the Chinese mafia headquarters. That's why the next scene became something out of a superhero movie. Fake Jang wanted to become a hero for Song, at least in his mind. The fight still happens in real life but it wasn't as fancy or awesome. We see the aquarium wall destroyed and the water submerges the whole floor. As mentioned previously, water means the scene is a dream sequence. Like Jang, he has to face his real self at some point. After the physical fight, he has to battle with his inner demons. Here in his subconscious, he isn't fake Jang anymore. Rather, he's the "ghost" that was yet to become gangster Jang: flamboyant, eccentric, and deeply disturbed. The ballet dance battle sequence is how the movie personified the ghost/detached mind of the millionaire battling the many reasons (guys in black suits) why it existed and why the millionaire chose to deal with his problems by detaching from reality. The dance fight ended with the "ghost" kicking his real self out of his deep torpor and into reality. As the millionaire breaks out of his lethargy, he wakes into the severely injured body of fake Jang. Jang aims his gun at the millionaire. The millionaire aims his gun in return but drops them and trudges forward ignoring Jang. He walks to the edge of the destroyed casino floor and finally kills himself. As Doctor Choi said, "You see what's real by losing everything." Jang saw that he was a person capable of murdering the people he loves and learned to embrace that side of him to become a stronger person. The millionaire discovered that the real him is the same person he didn't want to be, to begin with. The movie's tagline "only the real one takes all" is kinda a misnomer. At the end of the day, everybody lost. I guess since, Jang was real, he came out of the whole thing still alive.
My thoughts on the film:
What happened to the sharks when the casino exploded? lol Jokes aside, the film really has a lot of interesting elements. Apart from the excessive use of red and green colored lights to set the mood of the scene, I cannot fault its cinematography. My favorite shot was the spinning mirror scene in the end. The problem as I said in the beginning is, the plot is too convoluted. I have to give it props for trying to tackle various mental illnesses and it has even come up of clever ways to depict them. But most (if not all) of great mindjob films start with a simple premise and build the complicated themes into it. Take Inception's plot, in the simplest possible terms: it was a heist movie where instead of a bank, it happens inside a human mind, and then a million things go wrong. Here, we have a complicated premise from the start: In the middle of a mafia drug war, two drug addicts try to patch up their real selves which they destroyed to overcome their addiction. That's the simplest way we can boil down the plot. The biggest plot hole I can say with the film is the hospital scene in Chapter 1 where it tries to explain the "birth" of fake Jang but it doesn't fit the delusion that influences fake Jang's actions in the next chapters. It made it seem like the plan was to somehow transfer reporter Jang's persona to the comatose person by killing him. If a person suddenly chokes you to death, you wouldn't want to take his place. You'd rather do everything to kill him. Moreover, the personality that emerged from the millionaire after he awakens was so far from any of the personas of Jang. This robbed the plot of playing on the mystery of who was real or not. If they showed us why the millionaire wanted to kill himself and why he hated himself so much he'd rather "drown" his real self and take on the identity of someone else's, it would have been a more convincing Chapter 1. In a nutshell: Was it that bad? No, not really. It has a lot of positive things going for it: cinematography, acting, action sequences, visual effects, and it's not quite your run-of-the-mill South Korean noir film. It doesn't really deserve to be derided like it did. But it's too complicated and ambitious for the mainstream audience. And unpolished for people who like watching films that aim to mind fuck you with its mysteries. That's all, that's how I understood the movie. I just want to get everything out of my mind and move on to the next show. I hope it helped or at least made you reconsider your thoughts on the film. Thank you so much for reading! :D
My personal GTA V/O wishlist. you don't have to like it but suggestions are welcomed.
WARNING: This Wishlist my give you high hopes and a boner. Also contains grammatical errors. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK! Let me start off by saying I know asking most of these are asking for a lot but would still be awesome to have. After all a big part of GTA is the customization and making our character unique. keep in mind that this is just my opinion. So let me know what you think and what you would have added to the list.
Garages can be re-arranged in a menu while in the garage.
Parts you buy for your car can be switched out in your garage. Example: if i buy a set of rims for my Hotknife one day, then buy another set the next day i should be able to interchange those rims at my pleasure (same for bumpers, spoilers, exhaust tips, engine mods, ect).
Ability to purchase different types of phones (like Michael's Trevor"s or Franklin's in story mode) or a Tablet (for bigger text and screen) and a speed dial icon to a contact of your choosing (calling Lester in a bind to lose the cops would be much easier than scrolling through a bunch of contacts).
A Website like Craigslist or ebay where a player can sell their cars to friends, crew members or other players online. That way your car just doesn't disappear like when sold to a garage, and you can see a friend driving it.
Payouts increased for most missions, the more effort the mission requires the higher the payout.
Rewards from Gang Attacks, Crate Drops, and Good Behavior increase by level, or good behavior pay out will increase the longer you remain "good"
Bad behavior "Dunce pool" players receive greater punishment (slower cars less powerful weapons run slower) and is easier to get into in order to discourage griefing, because a single player in a tank can blow up other players all day without any consequences.
Prices of things from Merry-weather reduced. (this will encourage players to use this resource more)
Passive Mode lets you use weapons, but they are ineffective against players, would work like friendly fire during a mission.(Mainly for pesky cops). Also cannot be killed by other players when in a car or be killed by being run over by other players while in passive mode.
Different colored blips for bounties. (Example: $1000 Yellow $9000 Bright Red) I'm tired of chasing a player for 20 min only to find it was only $1000 when i could have robbed a store for $1200 in 2 min
bility to buy "Bullshark Testosterone" and keep it in your inventory and take it when ever you want like how a player would eats snacks.
Ability to remove doors, hoods, bumpers, fenders all the way down to the skeleton. Just for the look of it. (i know it would be easy to add into the game. an would help make cars unique). This person wants it too.
Flying squirrel/ wing suit Just imagine this going down Mt. Chilliad!
Horses! they already have horse stables out in the country side and at the HORSE track. Why aren't they in game?
Crew emblem on Parachute
Apartment pets. cats, dogs, falcons, little sharks, ect.
Picture mode allowing free floating camera (more like forza horizon's picture mode) for better Snapmatic pics
Bring back Nitro (boost, nos or whatever you want to call it)
Tactical or military wear (like Merryweather gear)
leather driving gloves (because they'll look good with the suits)
Pull your own camper trailer that you can sleep in and save in (single player)
Get rid of night vision on heli cams or be able to toggle it. (it's not even night vision its just a am with green tint and it makes it harder to shoot)
Increase rocket speed. Being in buzzard and shooting rockets at cops or annoying players is extremely frustrating they move so slow that they are easily dodged you literally have to lead 3 seconds ahead.
Exterior roll cage much like the Merryweather Jeep or like these 12
Trophy Trucks I mean c'mon the truck would be fun as fuck!
Bullet proof glass. Duh!
Apache attack Heli (gunner has explosive rounds and pilot has missiles) would not be over powered if the auto lock rocket launcher is given as well.
Undead Nightmare Los Santos edition where almost all cars are broken (so players gotta ride a horse) and ammo is rare
Stockings for girls to go with the business update know this way in the valentines day dlc but i missed it for my girl charter and you could only be wearing underwear with them.
We need more low! All these players shooting their tires to lower their cars want lower cars. how about just add airbag suspension.
Hardcore Mode with no mini map or blips and less health. This would be fun to play some games like cops and robbers with friends where players and actually hide from others.
Ability to block all incoming calls (shits annoying when you get calls form Simeon every 5 min)
Cross bow or regular bow just for fun. This would also go well with the Undead Nightmare LS edition dlc.
A bigger garage with a parking rack like this with a stare case on the side to get to the cars. Now I know a second garage update is on its way but being a car collector in GTAO requires more than 20 car spots.
Crew Hide out. Most likely a big warehouse or hangar where crew members can meet up, plan heist or simply hang out. This Crew Hideout would include a gun range(not the mini game nut just a place to practice shooting/ no loading screen, score, or winner and loser), zip-line (for fast transport across the hideout and for fun), lounge area with LOTS of TVs(like a TV wall), it's very own black market dealer that can sell you heist spoils to and also supply guns and drug boosts(BS testosterone) and A big crew Flag mounted on the wall. Crew members would also be able to store CREW vehicles there; meaning any crew member can use it or customize it.
Custom Apartments! Now most players paid for high end apartments only to find that their buddy spent 100k less and it looks exactly the same. My idea is that you can change you wall colors and choose what type of furniture you have. Example a player can switch out their bed, couch ect. for a better one
In addition to custom appartments it would be cool if a player could put their favorite car on rotational display in their apartment. Much like this (I think it would fit nicely in replacement of the dining room table that is useless)
Different types of suspension stiff for racing and soft for off-roading
Ability to record short video clips from you phone. This is probably better for when it comes to PS4, given the sharing feature.
Cop free game session. I understand that in this session there would be no activities such as robberies however it would be a fun session to goof around in with friends.
Yachts just to have fun at sea and feel like a boss.
The ability to exit you building through the roof so you can parachute off or maybe have your Pegasus heli waiting for you up there
Gambling! there's already a casino.
a Dancing animation (just for fun)
Fireworks! just fireworks that you can buy to either set off where ever you want or used as a weapon to shoot at friends and enemies.
Flare Gun to go with the fireworks
Smoke Grenade that puts up a wall of smoke. i know we have teargas but its not the same as smoke.
Cars from GTA 4 like the Dukes, the Faction, the Saber, or Turismo. But over all just keep the old cars in and have new models of the old ones. example the Coquette have a GTA 4 version and a GTA 5 version but keep both in game.
Motorcycles only take up half a spot in the garage so a player can fit 2 to a spot.
if your gunna have wheelie bars make the car capable of wheelies
An armory in your apartment to store weapons you don't want to carry.
Ability to grab onto cars while on a bike for speed.
what did you think of my list? did i miss anything? If so comment what you would want to see.
